Literature Text

You've heard the term,
"sticks and stones may break my bones,
but words will never harm me."

But it's wrong.
Words do harm,
sometimes worse than sticks and stones.

For those who have no hope,
words are worse than a knife.

It's easy to overcome the physical,
for you know that it will go away.
But pain from words,
You don't know when it will leave.

For insults sink in and stay.
And when you constantly hear them,
you believe them.

It's hard to sit all day in physical pain,
but it's harder still to sit in the emotional.

Words can lift and heal,
but they can also cut and sink you in,
into to a pit of hopelessness.

Don't be careless with your words,
for they can feel like sticks and stones.

They are like sticks and stones that don't bounce off again,
but stick like glue to a heart;
Poisoning the mind against yourself.

But luckily,
all it takes is Jesus to take the sticks,
and of course the stones, away.

And that is the only way,
to fight the sticks and stones.

Too many children have to deal with this, and it has to stop!
School bullies are so cruel when they discover that words work better than pushing or shoving.
The damage done is unnerving, and it is creating bitter people.

"For those who have no hope,
words are worse than a knife."

That is so true.

I love this poem Bailey...
